Opportunities

There are several possibilities to get financial support to work at CIBER. We here provide a brief overview over some sources for funding and provide links to the grant funding websites for further information. Many individual countries maintain individulal grant regimes that can also finance postgraduate and postdoctoral work abroad.


UWA Research Development Awards

Grant description:

The award is offered by the University of Western Australia and designed to provide an opportunity for early career researchers to develop grant application and research skills that initiate future research projects and to build track records for external grant competitiveness. Grants of up to $30,000 are awarded for one year

UWA Postdoctoral Fellowships

Grant description:

A 3 year postdoctoral fellowship offered by the University of Western Australia with the aim to recruit, retain and develop high quality researchers. The fellowship covers salary and 6000 A$ per year for research.

ARC Postdoctoral Fellowships

Next closing date:

no open call, March 2010

Grant description:

These fellowships are available for early-career researchers (who have been awarded a PhD within the three years immediately preceding the closing date for applications) to undertake research of national and international significance and to broaden their research experience. This fellowships covers salary as well as reseach costs

Marie Curie: International Outgoing Fellowships (IOF)

Next closing date:

no open call,early 2010

Grant description:

IOFs are for researchers from EU Member States and Associated Countries. To apply, you must have either a doctoral degree or at least 4 years of full-time equivalent research experience, after obtaining a degree permitting you to embark on a doctorate. But more experience is welcomed, although it will not affect your chances of obtaining an IOF.

ARC Queen Elizabeth II fellowships

Grant description:

These Australian Research Council Fellowships are available for postdoctoral researchers of exceptional promise to undertake research in Australia of national and international significance. Fellowships are awarded for up to 5 years and cover salary as well as reseach costs

ARC Future Fellowships

Next closing date:

no open call, probably end of 2009

Grant description:

Over a five-year period (2009 -2013), Australian Research Council Future Fellowships will offer four-year fellowships of up to $140,000 a year to 1,000 outstanding Australian and international researchers in the middle of their career. In addition, each researcher's Administering Organisation will receive funding of up to $50,000 per year to support related infrastructure, equipment, travel and relocation costs.
